NDSU -8
O/U. 60.5
Mythical score NDSU 34-26

  • Mercer is ACU with a better defense. Against their competition they did as well as the Bison
  • Look for a game similar to ACU with less Bison scoring. Once again NDSU may wear down its opponent but Mercer is a physical team. The RI game was a testament to that.
  • NDSU pts Scored 465 Mercer 404
  • NDSU pts allowed 207. Mercer 241
  • Mercer had Bama. L 52-7 on 202 yds/60 rushing
  • Common opponent East Ten State
    Mercer 37 ETS 31
    NDSU 38 ETS 35

NDSUs 209 yds rushing is going up against Mercers 67 yd/game rushing defense, best in the field.

SDSU allows 91 yds rushing. NDSU rushed for 112 against the jacks. They didn’t score any rushing tds but did pick up 9 fist downs on the ground

Mercer pass defense is the weakest in the field allowing 246 yds. NDSU should have no trouble getting its usual 224 yds and several scores. This should keep it from being 13-9 like the Bison saw against the Jacks very good defense.

As shown in the rosters there doesn’t seem to be any material difference in the sizes of the players. NDSU might have a slight size advantage along the O line but no great advantage. Watching the Mercer RI game they seemed to play physical ball and were slightly better but a competitive match-up for Rhode Island.

they have a Robert Morris look about them but on paper they look bigger

Macon didn’t seem to be a real prosperous town, but we didn’t see that much of it. We stayed at the 1842 Inn, a southern style mansion now a B&B Delightful stay. Interesting history. Drinks on the porch, nice southern evening, comfortable beds, good shower, delicious and fun breakfast.
