In 2008 I was at Memorial Stadium for the single meeting between the Cowboys and Bison. Wyo won a good game 16-13. A late pick and FG gave them the come-from-behind victory. NDSU was a recent FCS move-up still in the transition period.

Game recap here:

From our country Laramie is a beautiful drive. I was disappointed to see this one in Fargo.

Homecoming, proximity, similar universities, the 0-1 record & conference rivalry all combine to make this a home game worth seeing.

Tickets go on sale Aug 1. I bet it’s hot

Coach Bohl stands out as one of the transformational coaches at NDSU. Coming from Nebraska, he over-saw the NDSU transition to FCS and built a dynasty before moving up to the Cowboys. He lives on his ranch in central North Dakota. A great asset for the sport, He is active in the affairs of college football.

Current Sagarin rank: NDSU 40, Wyoming 127.

Similar Schools: Mercer 130, Missouri State 125, Oregon State 126, Oklahoma State 122, Kennesaw State 112, Marshall 106, South Dakota State 99

Early Prediction NDSU -8. Total 42. Mythical Score Bison 25 - 17.

In 2025 Wyo was the lowest scoring MWC team and also allowed the fewest points. The 2025 defense was best in the league. In a purely defensive battle this is a dead heat @ 21. Otherwise the Bison have an edge.

Planning to attend the 2027 game in Laramie. Anxious to drive hwy 130 (closed in the winter) over to Saratoga and see the area without snow cover. Some great eating places over there!

Hi User1. Had to look that up. West out of Laramie up the 11,000 ft snowy range pass (right there with Beartooth also closed in winter). Then loop back around to Laramie. Bet that is beautiful. I’m not familiar with that area.

Liked the looks of the ski area and the campgrounds too.

You must know that area if you know the good places to eat?

We go snowmobiling in the Snowies & Sierra Madres (SW of the Snowy Range) every winter. I don't know Laramie at all because we stay on the other side of the mountain in Saratoga. If you are a golfer (I am not), Old Baldy will be a must. https://www.oldbaldyclub.com/Club/Scripts/Home/home.asp
It's a small town, guessing 2000? But some great eating establishments. When the time comes I'll drop some recommendations.

I’ve know several parts of Wyoming but not that area. We operated out of Douglas for a while. We worked tha Larimie range seismographing from the flats west up to the peaks. We moved by helicopter and foot.

Snowmobiling would be good. I liked the looks of the ski area too, just the kind of spots we loved. Snow looked fabulous. I figured you must have some background. Sounding pretty local..scenery on the trails must be great. It must be fun!

Don’t golf but it looks nice. Keep us informed. Do they hike the Snowmobile trails or use Polaris type side x sides on the trails in Summer?

KNOW THE OPPONENT:

October 10, 2026 Las Vegas, NV

UNLV - NDSU:
  • Established: 1957 - 1899
  • Forbes List of 500 Top Universities: #335 - #368
  • Tuition: $11,213 - $9,868
  • COA: $33,629 - $21,915
  • Campus: Mid Sized City - Urban
  • Type:- Land Grant Research
  • Location: Las Vegas, NV (Paradise) - Fargo, ND
  • Enrollment: 31,412 - 11,110
  • Endowment: 470.85M$ - 528M$
  • Nickname: Runnin’ Rebels- Bison
  • Colors: - Scarlet/Grey - Yellow/Green
  • Stadium: Allegiant - Fargo Dome
  • Capacity: 65,000 - 18,900
  • Football Budget: 21.2M$ - 12M$ est.
UNLV schedules FCS (2025 UNLV 38 Idaho St 31) but never NDSU. Using 2025 cumulative stats our GAM system shows NDSU -13 vs Idaho State.

Las Vegas is an easy destination. Allegiant under $100 one way. We enjoyed staying at the Cosmo and the residency shows on the strip. Last time was Aerosmith. COVID ended that too. Loved the early morning walks. Strip was spotless, no people, clean cool air and a great morning vibe with a hint of excitement in the air.

I expect a good Bison crowd. No one really knows how the Bison fans will travel. We will see.

Current Sagarin rank: NDSU 40, Rebels 74

Similar Schools: South Dakota State 99, Montana 73, Army 72, Boise State 61, Minnesota 53

Early Prediction NDSU -1. Total 56. Mythical Score Bison 29-28.

2025 UNLV was the highest scoring MWC team with the most yards. Unfortunately the defense was among the worst. Every game is a shoot-out. Beat them with a good defense.

There will be no weak positions and no 4th qtr let down. This will be one of the best teams the Bison have faced in a while.

It’s an interesting match-up probably too close to call. We will cover it in detail when the time comes.

It appears that Side by sides are big out there. I have a buddy with a home in Ryan Park and he has a Jeep Wrangler for summer fun. Ton of logging roads.
Saratoga has natural hot springs and the community has a "Hobo Pool" https://www.saratogachamber.info/play/m ... ot-springs free will donations. It's a wonderful way to cap off a day of snowmobiling.
