Owning the FCS is the best publicity bargin in sports today. If the other schools want to give it away let them. If the FBS wants to expand let them make an offer, they better make it good.

NDSU is no FBS power house, the Bison are 0-2 FBS in modern times. So what’s the hurry? There’s room for a new FBS conference in the Dakotas, Montana and Idaho. The great west infrastructure is there. When the time is right it should happen. The fact that it hasn’t tells us the time is not right.
Modern times ahhh Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Central Michigan, Ball State, Kansas and Kansas State.

Main points in review:
  • FBS success is ancient NDSU history.

It’s a good record but NDSU is not an FBS powerhouse, 10 years, a couple head coaches, couple university presidents plus the Covid planned-demic ago was the last FBS win. 0-2 since then.

    FCS domination lucrative.

Any offer must be a very good offer to replace what they have.

The MWC has expressed mild interest.
Conclusion:

Growth, at least until the population decline accelerates, is inevitable. When there is enough surplus in the FBS media budgets and NDSU can demonstrate a profitable audiance an FBS invite will, in some form, arrive. Unfortunately Other FBS teams want the money. The only way to grow is dominate the FCS. Looks like steady as she goes to me.

NDSU can’t win consistently in the FBS without FBS resources. NDSU can assemble a team good enough to beat nationally ranked Oregon. I believe they are building that team now. If true, speculation allows for a huge recruit or two looking to play that game and win an FCS national title.

A look at the Montana State/Oregon game is a dose of reality. But, The Bison beat Iowa. They had Desmond King, Oregon is on the schedule. Who do they have?

I apologize, I didn’t know .i insulted you personally, or anybody else with that simple truth. I’m just realizing it myself.

I understand you are proud of those wins, all Bison fans are but they didn’t occure in the modern era of college football. They are part of The Bison Lore.

I was making the point this is where the program finds itself: The dominate program in the FCS. It’s not an FBS powerhouse. It’s a good, high visibility, sustainable FCS program in a position of influence with potential. Nothing has been offered to NDSU publicly. Only speculation has been better than the current situation. If an offer comes, and I think it will, it had better be good.

Without an existing conference sponsor The Great West approach used to move to D1 is closed for FBS.

Two things possible
  • NDSU invited to an existing FBS line-up
  • NDSU asked to join a new line-up (FBS Ana/or all sports) for a new division to an existing conference.
The MWC, mentioning NDSU by name, has expressed an interest in both. seems to be just a matter of time.

Steady as she goes. One step at a time. There are some very big games out in front of Bison fans and the NDSU program.

This one might be worth watching

UND @ STATE (Murray)
  • UND -35
    Total 67
    Mythical Score und 51 - RACERS 16
The Racers, always tough at home, have had trouble converting yards to points. Ever loyal Racers fans are hoping for a break through today ending a long string of “bad luck” games.

JFC You made up a premise just so you could talk about it. NOBODY said NDSU was a FBS powerhouse. That was all your hyperbole.

How you could say NDSUs wins against the FBS is ancient history just shows your time disconnect with reality. D2 is ancient history.

Well yea, I did bring it up. You seem to disagree. I guess you think the Bison are an FBS powerhouse?

You keep missing the point though. Distracted by your ego?

The Bison are ready to move. Patience is the word. Cash in and use the strong bargaining position to make sure the program gets what it’s worth when the offer does come. There’s no hurry.

I say those legendary Bison wins are ancient history because they are. The rules for college football aren’t even the same. Years have passed. Heck I was at most of those games. 0-2 in the post Covid era and the modern age.
