IMHO

The “new” FBS will have the 20 million dollars for payroll

“Schools”. That don’t have it yet aspire to be in the new FBS will need NILs to close the gap.

NDSU w9nt have 20 million unless there is some NIL entity that wants to purchase the Bison by providing the money.

Next time a smaller school gets bought-out, like sdsu by Washington, the buyer just might leave the team there. Many college football programs might get bought out like this. .crowd fund to own the Bison.
is the 20 mil a cap or will Alabama be able to pile in NIL on top of that?

I guess no matter what NDSU spends on payroll the schedule won't change. Whatever NDSU claims to be spending is enough to dominate FCs.

The item Lakes posted about the need to make conferences and classifications more fluid considering the membership changes being made caught my eye. It’s beyond absurd the major conferences raiding other conferences are at the same time applying pressure to keep new members out of FBS. Without new blood there are conferences that will disappear.

There's a reason we were mentioned in a credible report last year.

All right back to normal 1 registered. 0 guests. Way to go Kevin! The pathetic ddos attack has been repelled by our resident ninja! 🍀

Here are the details on what the house settlement is proposed to fix. Don’t see how this makes NDSU any more attractive to the MWC. Maybe just eliminating the uncertainty before moving ahead?

I do see how it may improve recruiting for all sports. It should help NDSU in the FCS, unlike rule changes that hurt NDSU in the D2 days.

From: https://frontofficesports.com/house-v-n ... -answered/
$2.8 billion in damages: The settlement would offer these damages to players who couldn’t earn NIL money before the NCAA changed its rules in 2021, distributing money based on formulas agreed upon in the settlement. The parties came up with $2.8 billion in their negotiations—much less than the NCAA and power conferences would have to pay if they lost at trial.
Revenue-sharing: It would also allow schools to share a portion of their athletic department revenue (earmarked as NIL earnings from appearing on broadcasts) with all players over the next 10 years. The first cap on revenue-sharing, beginning in 2025-26, would be $20.5 million, with incremental increases annually.
NIL clearinghouse: The settlement imposes new restrictions, however: The NCAA has established a clearinghouse for NIL deals offered by boosters and NIL collectives, with the ability to reject deals that may look like “pay for play.” The clearinghouse is run through software created by Deloitte, and will have an appeals process managed by an independent group created by the NCAA.
Roster limits: The settlement would also eliminate scholarship limits—but impose roster limits in their place. Hundreds of walk-on athletes and athletes offered partial scholarships have lost their roster spots in anticipation of this policy.
Lobbying provision: Finally, the settlement imposes a federal lobbying gag order of sorts on plaintiff counsel. The settlement essentially says lawyers for the college athletes—who have sued the NCAA—-must support any legislation in line with the settlement, and remain publicly neutral on key related issues, like athlete employment. The provision, laid out in a short paragraph in Article 7 of the settlement, aims to ensure the plaintiffs’ lawyers won’t disrupt the yearslong, multimillion-dollar federal lobbying campaign in Congress the NCAA and Power 5 conferences have waged to protect amateurism and rein in the athletes’ rights movement.

Roster limits and revenue sharing should be advantages to a MVFC NDSU. Probably disadvantages in a MWC NDSU.

if big Sac “State” is serious I believe the MWC would take them first. Tarleton is a toss-up. I tend to think media money directs the conference alignments not quality of the football program. Value is in the larger markets. Maintaining a footprint controls costs.

A new FBS conference in the Montana/Idaho/Dakota FBS void seems more likely. Lots of market value there, infrastructure in place and a quality high visibility football program would bring a lot of Marquee value.

All-and-all I think they are fine in the FCS. I also think there is going to be more talent coming into the FCS making things a lot more interesting. Any offer from the MWC better be a good one. NDSU is sitting pretty in a growing division.
