Went and scrolled through it. Talked NDSU the last 7 minutes or so. Lakes is "EH" in the comments section. Told some real whoppers. 2 of my favorites were that NDSU raised 50 million for the IPF in just 2 months. Also, according to him, the reason the Bison "opted out" was because the collective has TOO MUCH MONEY!! Caps as per Lakes. It's really worth reading some of his comments, the usual scream FBS comments but also some real dozzies being told.

 Thanks for the report. Sounds like the PT Barnum approach to selling. Any mention of the new stadium? Lakes has the plan.

Bison fans want to go FBS. Fan apathy setting in. Too many puds. Better competition needed. Apparently the Ivies aren’t it.

I remember better competition. After the Portland State win NDSU didn’t dominate D2. They were competitive but the period was marked by an extensive losing streak to un_, struggles getting into the playoffs, some dismal seasons, coaching changes, player scandals and not many big games won. The Bison were running with the pack. Better competition.

Bison fans hated it. The Fargo Dome rarely sold-out. Lots of 6-8,000 crowds. Competitive 500 seasons werent really wanted. The wilderness period didn’t end until the Gopher series.

Currently only half want to go every week. That number has to grow. Right now the NDSU/Fargodomes marketing position is perfect, not FBS perfect but market forces are at work.

IMHO
Changes are coming. 60-70 super programs will split away sharing revenues and managing a 20 million salary cap. That’s pro ball. The rest will play college ball. There will be room for a new FBS conference. It will be in Idaho, Montana and the Dakotas.

Market forces pushed NDSU into FCS

Market forces are pushing the top FBS teams into the super league
.
Market forces will bring the FBS to NDSU, just not the FBS we know now.

Easier for them. Lots of FBS teams close by. New stadium planned with lots of solar panels. Promoting, wheeling and dealing to grow into their market potential.

A few years back there were enough independents to support a schedule. Those independents have been absorbed. Maybe another window is opening making an independent FBS schedule possible again? Could an independent FBS NDSU book home games? They only seem passively interested in making the move. Must have reasons.

Maybe this is the spark for the new North Central FBS Conference? Could the Summit League start an FBS football, conference? Why not?

Easier for them is no excuse. Weak leadership. No vision. Even less execution.
